Biography

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Josh attended the Beth Tfiloh Day School, and later, Pikesville High School. He attended the University of Rochester, where he earned a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, with an additional concentration in Theater Arts. Upon graduation, he moved to New York City, where he worked doing software development at various firms.

Since May 2016 Josh has been working for Google, as a Technical Program Manager. The job is to manage complexity; organizing projects and programs across multiple teams, and putting into place processes that support achieving the goals of those projects and programs efficiently and predictably, all while creating a great work experience for the team members. Besides projects, T/PMs also develop, manage, and improve processes — patterns of work flowing between teams that have many things in common with projects, except that they repeat over and over again instead of having the fixed start and end dates.

In 1993 he married Zhanna Glazenburg. They have two boys: Maxim and N'yoma. The family moved to the Croton-on-Hudson area in 2001, where Zhanna teaches Physics at Croton-Harmon High School. Max graduated from Croton-Harmon High School in 2015, and N'yoma in 2019. Max is launching a career public transportation policy and management , and N'yoma is a student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

On the Board of Education Josh has chaired the Communications, Advocacy, and Audit Committees, and has served on the Policy Committee. Additionally he has been a member of the PVC and CHHS Building Planning Councils, represents the Board on the CHHS Student Faculty Congress, is the Board of Education representative on the district-wide Health and Safety Committee, and is the board liaison to the Croton-on-Hudson Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee.

Besides his duties on the Board of Education, Josh has been deeply involved in the Destination Imagination program since 2006, when Max started in the program, advancing to NY State Finals. That was just the beginning of Josh's increasing involvement in the program. 16 years later, Josh is a member of the New York Destination Imagination board of trustees, and serves as the Eastern Regional Director. As Tournament Director, he manages events with over 200 volunteers, 100 teams, and 1,600 attendees. He has managed multiple Croton DI teams (including 4 which advanced to Global Finals).

Josh's other interests include his support of Congregation Sons of Israel, where he served two terms on the board of trustees, wildlife photography, hiking, travel, and time spent at Croton Dam Park on weekend mornings with the family dog, Zathras.
